Your Body is Worth it.

So I was never a big supplement, protein powder, type of person. Everyone always assumed I drank a shake after every work out. I was also not big on supplement or body building brands, and I had been approached by a number of vendors who wanted me to carry their product or represent them.

In the case of Canprev, I actually approached them and wanted to represent them. I love that they are a Canadian company, with their products manufactured locally – in Scarborough no doubt! They have a team of naturopaths that help create their products with the healthy therapeutic dosages of nutrients. It was founded by Tanya Salituro, a three-time cancer survivor in 2005. I am proud to be an ambassador and professional distributor for Canprev.image

I don’t typically recommend many dietary supplements, if any at all, to my clients in the beginning of our fitness program because I don’t want them to be overwhelmed, especially if they are coming at me with a blank slate. As a holistic nutritionist, I want to educate and promote whole, live foods and incorporate those into their diet and lifestyles so they can achieve their health and fitness goals faster. I want them to develop healthy habits while still enjoying life.

It could go both ways however, because a lot of the foods I may recommend have never been heard of by some people, and this could freak them out even more! “How am I supposed to get 5-6+ services of fruits and vegetables in a day and what the heck are CHIA SEEDS?” Absoprtion, allergies and food intolerances can also be issues that could get in the way of eating a variety of whole foods. In this case I recommend the vegan protein supplement I am about to discuss below, a little sooner.

imageOtherwise, as my clients begin to see results, become more active, independent, and attuned with their bodies, I recommend that they sample one of my favourite vegan protein/greens supplements, CORE. this is not meant to be used a meal replacement, bodybuilding mass gainer or short term detox product – although it acts as a natural detox because of its liver supporting nutrients – and as the calories indicate (only 65cal per scoop), but I am promoting a way to enhance your everyday life, giving you 8-9 servings of super fruits and vegetable services per serving, 28 vit&min, support for UTI, prostate, blood sugar balance (keeps your energy and blood sugar levels stable, managing cravings and crashes), and it’s vegan making it easily absorbable – no gas or bloating! It still serves as a great post work-out recovery shake because it has 18g of easily digested plant protein!image

So whether you are an athlete who needs to be at peak performance, a jet setter, or retiring (but not from life!) and you care about what you eat and how you live, I truly believe that CORE can enhance your life.  I myself was never a huge “protein powder”or supplement person, but as I get older, especially always being on the go and being female (muscle deterioration, bone density issues, imagemetabolism, hormone balance, being HANGRY etc), I need to make sure I get my nutrients easily and efficiently. The men’s tub is similar, and supports the prostate and heart health. My hubby actually loves CORE because it is not super sweet and mixes well with his smoothies and meals.

I love mixing this in my smoothies, oatmeal, and even baking with them. The light vanilla flavour is not too aggressive and easy to blend with almost anything. You can take this daily or maybe just 4-5 times per week, like a multivitamin or supplement. We brought the small travel packs with us on our West Coast Trail hike, and it felt pretty amazing to be able to have something so nutrient dense in our packs.

Below is a quick VIDEO of my morning ritual as I start every day at 5am.
